Theron and Aspasio, or, A Series of Dialogues and Letters Upon the Most Interesting and Important Subjects to which is added Aspasio Vindicated in Eleven Letters from Mr Hervey to the Rev. John Wesley

By Rev. James Hervey
Published by Thomas Tegg and Son: London 1837 1st Edition

" James Hervey (26 February 1714 - 25 December 1758) was an English clergyman and writer. Hervey was born in Hardingstone, near Northampton. He was educated at Northampton grammar school and Lincoln College, Oxford, where he was exposed to John Wesley and the Oxford Methodists. Despite adopting a Calvinistic creed, he chose to remain in the Anglican Church. Hervey was known for his dedicated work as a parish priest and his various writings. His best-known work, Meditations and Contemplations, was widely popular and inspired William Blake's art and poetry. Hervey's work also contributed to the 18th-century "Graveyard School" of poets, which influenced Gothic literature and later Romanticism."
