The Scottish Ruling Elder
By G.D. Henderson
Published by James Clarke & Co Ltd: London c1935

"The Scottish Ruling Elder by G. D. Henderson is a historical study of the eldership within the Scottish Presbyterian tradition. Published by James Clarke & Co. Ltd., London, circa 1935, it examines an office central to the organisation and religious life of the Scottish Church. Henderson is identified on the title page as Regius Professor of Church History at the University of Aberdeen. The work's publication in 1935 is also recorded in subsequent church histories.

The book explores the position of ruling elders and their participation in church government, with particular interest in the relationship between religious authority and congregational life. Its treatment of kirk-session discipline provides historical context for the Church's influence upon personal conduct and community affairs, making it relevant to the study of Scottish social history as well as Presbyterian institutions.

This copy is bound in green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. The photographs show some fading and marking to the spine, together with age-toning and scattered spotting to the visible preliminary pages. A specialist volume of interest to collectors of Scottish ecclesiastical history, Presbyterian theology and early twentieth-century religious scholarship."

Light wear and fading to covers and spine as shown. No inscriptions. Pages are clean and well presented. Binding is excellent and there are no loose pages. A nice copy in very good condition overall. Please study photos to further understand condition.
