" This broad collection comprises six early volumes from J.M. Dent's celebrated Everyman's Library, published in London between approximately 1914 and 1926. Founded in 1906 under the direction of publisher Joseph Malaby Dent, the series sought to place the great works of literature, history, philosophy and science within reach of the general reader. Early Everyman volumes are especially admired for their compact format, coloured cloth bindings, gilt-decorated spines and elaborate Arts and Crafts-style title pages.

The literary selections include The Poems & Plays of Robert Browning: 1833-1844 (c.1925, 662 pages); Volume I of William Makepeace Thackeray's The Newcomes (1925, 421 pages); and George Borrow's The Romany Rye (1914, 392 pages). Together these encompass Victorian poetry and drama, Thackeray's expansive satire of English society, and Borrow's distinctive semi-autobiographical account of travel, language and encounters with Romany life in nineteenth-century Britain.

The dramatic works comprise Volume I of The Plays of Euripides in English (1925, 375 pages) and The Minor Elizabethan Drama, Volume II: Pre-Shakespearean Comedies (1926, 312 pages). These volumes bring together influential works from two formative periods of Western theatre: the surviving tragedies of classical Athens and a selection of early English comedies that helped establish the theatrical traditions later brought to maturity by Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

Completing the collection is Hugh Miller's The Old Red Sandstone; or, New Walks in an Old Field (c.1914), a landmark work of popular nineteenth-century geology examining Scotland's fossil-bearing rock formations and prehistoric fishes, with numerous illustrations throughout the text. All six volumes retain their original coloured cloth bindings, several with the series' characteristic decorative gilt spines and each with an ornate illustrated title page, forming an attractive and intellectually varied small library of early Everyman's Library editions. "

General wear and fading to covers as shown. Binding is decent with odd loose page/frontis. Inscriptions present. Pages with pleasant age toning otherwise clean and well presented. A nice 6 volume collection in good condition overall. Please study photos to further understand condition.
