"Pinocchio: The Story of a Puppet is the celebrated children's classic by Italian author Carlo Lorenzini, better known by his pen name C. Collodi. The story follows the unruly wooden puppet Pinocchio, carved by the kindly Geppetto and miraculously brought to life. Impulsive, mischievous and easily led astray, Pinocchio abandons school and repeatedly encounters danger through his dealings with tricksters, travelling players and other fantastic characters, while longing ultimately to prove himself worthy of becoming a real boy.

First published in serial form in Italy during the 1880s, Pinocchio combines lively adventure, fairy-tale invention and pointed moral instruction. Beneath its humour lies a vivid account of temptation, dishonesty, poverty and personal responsibility, with Pinocchio gradually learning the value of courage, loyalty and hard work. Considerably richer and more episodic than many later adaptations, Collodi's original tale remains one of the most enduring and internationally recognised works of children's literature.

This attractive undated edition was published in London circa 1915 by J. M. Dent & Sons Ltd as part of Everyman's Library for Young People, edited by Ernest Rhys. It features elaborate decorative endpapers and title pages together with numerous expressive black-and-white illustrations throughout the text, apparently signed "C.F." Bound in blue cloth with decorative gilt tooling and lettering to the spine, it is a charming early Everyman edition of this universally loved story."

General wear and fading to covers with a split to the outer spine hinge as shown. No inscriptions. Pages are clean and present beautifully. Binding is in excellent condition with all illustrations present. A decent copy in good condition overall. Please study photos to further understand condition.
