"Two In The Bush: A Story Of Adventure In Australia is a charming and increasingly elusive work of interwar children's fiction by Elizabeth Marc, first published by Cassell & Company in 1929. Written against an Australian backdrop, the story follows the adventures and experiences of young protagonists immersed in the unique landscapes and rhythms of life in the bush. Combining wholesome entertainment with a strong sense of place, the novel captures the spirit of exploration and self-reliance that characterised much of the best juvenile literature of the period.

Richly illustrated by John De Walton, the volume contains the complete suite of four illustrations, including attractive colour and black-and-white plates, all present as called for. De Walton's evocative artwork complements the text beautifully, bringing the Australian setting and youthful adventures vividly to life. Issued during a period when Australian themes were becoming increasingly popular with British publishers, the book reflects contemporary fascination with the landscapes, wildlife, and pioneering traditions of the Commonwealth.

This example is the desirable 1929 first edition, preserved in its original red cloth bindings and retaining all four illustrations. Early Australian-themed juvenile fiction from major publishers such as Cassell has become increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in complete and presentable condition. Today, Two In The Bush represents an attractive and uncommon survivor from the golden age of children's adventure stories, appealing to collectors of Australian literature, illustrated books, and early twentieth-century juvenile fiction."
