"
A superb and increasingly collectible collection of original Wheels Magazine issues from 1993, published by Murray Publishers Pty Ltd: Sydney, representing one of the most exciting transitional periods in Australian motoring history. This six-issue lot includes January, March, May, June, August and November editions, highlighted by the outstanding May 1993 "Forty Years" Anniversary Collector's Edition complete with its facsimile reprint of the very first Wheels Magazine issue from May 1953. Across the collection are extensive features on Falcon GTs, HSV performance Commodores, touring car racing, BMW M3 developments, Porsche and Lamborghini supercars, Japanese sports coupes, and the emerging new generation of Australian performance sedans that would define the decade.
Particularly desirable issues include the dramatic January "Car Of The Year" edition, the March touring car contender comparison featuring HRT Commodores and Seton's Falcon, the June "Cobra V8" Ford GT scoop issue, and the August HSV "Aussie Muscle" feature covering Senator and ClubSport models. The November issue is another standout, previewing the forthcoming EF Falcon range alongside early RAV4 coverage and contemporary world motor show developments. Throughout the magazines are rich period advertisements, manufacturer photography and detailed road tests from Holden, Ford, HSV, BMW, Toyota and numerous international marques, creating an excellent time-capsule of early-1990s performance motoring culture in Australia.
Condition is generally very good overall for vintage automotive magazines over thirty years old, with some light handling wear, edge rubbing and minor storage imperfections visible across certain issues. The special 40th Anniversary edition with accompanying 1953 reprint greatly enhances the appeal and collectibility of the lot, especially for long-term Wheels Magazine collectors and Australian motoring historians. A highly appealing collection for enthusiasts of HSV, Falcon GTs, touring cars, Brock-era Australian performance vehicles, classic motoring journalism and 1990s automotive nostalgia."
