1939 The Australasian Radio World Vol. 4 x 2 Antique Reference Books Magazines

The Australasian Radio World Vol. 4
Includes Issues 1 & 2 (2 Issues)
Published by Read Publications: Sydney 1939

" An early and highly attractive pre-war pairing of The Australasian Radio World, these two Volume 4 issues capture the Australian wireless scene in 1939, at a time when home radio construction, servicing, and technical experimentation were thriving. Issued just months before the outbreak of the Second World War, they offer a vivid snapshot of late-1930s radio culture, when enthusiasts, servicemen, and hobbyists alike were closely following developments in valves, amplifiers, loudspeakers, and receiver design. The bold green and magenta covers are especially striking, giving the pair excellent shelf and display appeal.

Published by Read Publications, Sydney, this lot comprises Vol. 4 No. 1 (May 10, 1939) and Vol. 4 No. 2 (June 10, 1939). The issues include practical and technically minded content such as portable valve testers, home-made microphones, fidelity amplifiers, receiver designs, and world shortwave tuning guides, alongside strong period advertising from firms such as Rola. As such, they are not only useful references for vintage radio enthusiasts, but also valuable pieces of Australian publishing and electronics history from the late interwar period.

Condition is good vintage overall, with the expected signs of age including light creasing, edge wear, and minor rubbing to extremities, while the covers remain intact and highly presentable. The contents appear complete, and the pair survives as a scarce and visually pleasing early grouping from this influential Australian radio journal. Increasingly difficult to source in small runs of this age, they will appeal to collectors of radio history, pre-war technical publications, and Australian industrial ephemera."

Condition across the included issues is consistent with age and intended use, showing general handling wear, light creasing, edge rubbing, and some toning, with covers remaining intact and contents complete. Please study photos to further understand condition.
