"Me an' th' Son follows the comic adventures of an ageing bushman and his returned-soldier son as they leave the farm and encounter the unfamiliar pleasures and absurdities of city life. Told in Steele Rudd's characteristic Australian vernacular, the episodes range across art exhibitions, shop windows, university life, horse racing, literature and industrial affairs, viewing metropolitan society through the shrewd and frequently bewildered eyes of rural visitors.

Steele Rudd was the pen name of Australian author Arthur Hoey Davis, best remembered for On Our Selection and his humorous depictions of bush families and rural life. The sketches collected here first appeared in the Brisbane Courier before their publication in book form; this volume also includes the separately titled sequence The Book of Dan. The text is accompanied by seven full-page illustrations by noted Australian artist Percy Lindsay.

Published in Sydney by the N.S.W. Bookstall Co. Ltd in 1924, this is the first book-published edition. It was wholly typeset and printed in Australia by John Sands Ltd and remains in its original red cloth binding, lettered in black to the front board and spine. An appealing association of Australian humour, illustration and popular publishing from the interwar period."
