"Published in 1905 by the Government Printing Bureau of Ottawa, The Selkirk Range, British Columbia - Volume 2 by A.O. Wheeler is a landmark work of Canadian geographical and topographical exploration. This important volume continues Wheeler's detailed survey of the Selkirk Mountains, a rugged subrange of the Columbia Mountains in southeastern British Columbia. Rich in scientific observation, it provides comprehensive geological, geographical, and glaciological data drawn from fieldwork conducted under the auspices of the Department of the Interior. The inclusion of twelve large folding maps and two striking photographic panoramas adds both aesthetic and scholarly depth, illustrating the terrain's complexity and the meticulous nature of Wheeler's cartographic achievement.

Wheeler's work captures the spirit of early twentieth-century Canadian exploration, balancing empirical precision with an appreciation for the region's majestic natural beauty. The combination of technical mapping, narrative field notes, and photographic documentation makes this an invaluable reference for historians of exploration, geographers, and collectors of early Canadian survey publications. It would particularly appeal to enthusiasts of mountaineering history, wilderness cartography, and early governmental scientific expeditions in Western Canada.

In 1906, he and journalist Elizabeth Parker were the principal founders of the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC). He was its first president, from 1906 to 1910, and editor of the Canadian Alpine Journal from 1907 to 1930. He remained Honorary President of the ACC from 1926 until his death in 1945. The Arthur O. Wheeler hut of the ACC is named after him."
