"Arthur Phillip (1738 - 1814) was a British Royal Navy officer who served as the first governor of the Colony of New South Wales. In 1786, Phillip was appointed by Lord Sydney as the commander of the First Fleet, a fleet of 11 ships whose crew were to establish a penal colony and a settlement at Botany Bay, New South Wales. On arriving at Botany Bay, Phillip found the site unsuitable and searched for a more habitable site for a settlement, which he found in Port Jackson - the site of Sydney, Australia, today."

Likely original bindings with detached front cover/endpaper leaf. Back cover secure and binding in general is very good with no loose pages from frontis forward. Covers and spine with general wear, bumped/curved corners, rub through etc. Pages present exceptionally well with the vast majority of the book being clean and bright. Some light age toning/spotting around plates. One plate has a small tear as shown. 1 x Chart + 13 x Folding Plates + 3 Portrait Plates + Frontis + Illustrated Title Page - Present.
