1885 Unbeaten Tracks In Japan by Isabella L Bird Illustrated Antique Travel Book

Unbeaten Tracks In Japan
By Isabella L. Bird
Published by John Murray: London 1885 (Note, publisher obscured by institutional label however confirmed by comparable research & publishers advertising at rear of book)

" Isabella Lucy Bishop FRGS (née Bird; 1831 - 1904) was an English explorer, writer, photographer and naturalist. Alongside fellow Englishwoman Fanny Jane Butler, she founded the John Bishop Memorial Hospital in Srinagar in modern-day Kashmir. She was also the first woman to be elected as a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society."

Poor condition overall. Cover heavily worn, stained and it appears someone has tried to "clean" it at some stage. Binding is relaxed and there are a couple of loose pages and wobbly page clusters. Lacks blank endpapers but appears otherwise as complete with all illustrations. Pages with subtle age toning, the odd tear or crease. Institutional stamps present. Please study photos to further understand condition.

Size 19.5cm x 14cm x 3cm - 336 Pages + Publishers Advertising
