"The Rev. John Eadie (1810-1876) was a Scottish theologian, biblical scholar, and author known for his contributions to biblical exegesis and his role in the Free Church of Scotland. He was a professor of biblical literature and a minister at the Cambridge Street Church in Glasgow.
Eadie wrote extensively on the New Testament, producing commentaries on books such as Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians, which remain respected in theological circles. His works were characterized by their deep linguistic analysis, drawing on Greek and Hebrew scholarship. He was also involved in the production of religious reference works, including The Illustrated National Family Bible, which provided extensive commentary and illustrations to make scripture more accessible to families. His scholarship and dedication to theological education left a lasting impact on biblical studies."
