" Epistres de Saint Paul (Brussels: Chez Eugène Henry Fricx, 1709) is a finely produced early-18th-century theological edition of the Pauline Epistles, comprising three substantial volumes that together present a detailed exposition and commentary on the letters of Saint Paul. The series begins with Aux Corinthiens (363 pages), exploring Paul's moral and doctrinal guidance to the Corinthian church—his reflections on faith, charity, and the organization of Christian life within a corrupt and divided society. The commentary follows a learned, scholastic style typical of the Counter-Reformation era, emphasizing moral interpretation, ecclesiastical order, and the alignment of Pauline teaching with Catholic orthodoxy.

The subsequent volumes—Aux Galates, Ephésiens, Philippiens, Colossiens, Thessaloniciens (356 pages), and A Timothée, A Tite, A Philémon & Aux Hébreux (389 pages)—extend this exegesis to Paul's pastoral and doctrinal letters, addressing both personal counsel and theological universals such as grace, redemption, and perseverance in faith. Likely based on the Latin Vulgate and enriched with extensive marginal notes, the work reflects the Catholic humanist scholarship of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, combining linguistic precision with devotional insight. Taken together, these volumes stand as a comprehensive and elegantly printed example of early modern biblical commentary, illustrating how European theologians of the period sought to reconcile scriptural study with ecclesiastical tradition and classical erudition.
