"Jean Barre was a pseudonym used by Eda Kathleen Bridgman (1886-1946), a prolific British author who wrote over 40 novels, mainly in the genres of romantic adventure, mystery, and comedy. She also published under the names Jean Barr and Lee Lindsay. Her works often featured fast-paced plots, witty dialogue, and elements of intrigue.

One of her novels, The King's Pearl (1934), revolves around jewel theft and an impoverished young gentlewoman caught up in a thrilling adventure involving the titular gem, which once belonged to King Charles II. Her other works include The Swiftest Thing in Life (1931), A Hunting We Will Go (1934), and The Twisted Stair (1936), among many others."
