"Hannah Glasse (née Allgood; March 1708 - 1 September 1770) was an English cookery writer of the 18th century. Her first cookery book, The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy , published in 1747, became the best-selling recipe book that century. It was reprinted within its first year of publication, appeared in 20 editions in the 18th century, and continued to be published until well into the 19th century. She later wrote The Servants' Directory (1760) and The Compleat Confectioner, which was probably published in 1760; neither book was as commercially successful as her first."

General wear, a few bumps, fading and chipping to the covers. Outer spine has a split running down the middle however this is effectively a "fold line" from where the book has been opened. It's all holding together fine and covers are firm. Lacks frontis. Title page has various marks and imperfections. Last page is quite fragile. Pages range from lightly stained, age toned to remarkably clean in the middle of the book. Contemporary owner notes on the endpapers appear to note favourite receipes? Overall this is a decent copy in solid condition to be enjoyed as is for decades to come. Please study photos to understand condition. Happy to provide more photos on request.
