" The Graphic Illustrated Weekly Newspaper was a British illustrated weekly publication founded in 1869 by William Luson Thomas, a successful artist and social reformer. Created as a rival to the already-established Illustrated London News, The Graphic quickly distinguished itself with its high-quality engravings, compelling visual storytelling, and focus on social issues, war reporting, and foreign affairs.

The newspaper attracted contributions from renowned artists such as Luke Fildes and Hubert von Herkomer, and it played a significant role in influencing public opinion, particularly on social reform. Its vivid illustrations brought the realities of life, especially among the working class, to the attention of middle and upper-class readers.

The Graphic remained popular through the late 19th and early 20th centuries but gradually declined with the rise of photography and modern journalism. It ceased publication in 1932, leaving a lasting legacy in the history of illustrated journalism."
