Hundertwasser 1980 USA
Published by Gruener Janura AG: Glarus Switzerland 1975 1st Edition

"Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) was an Austrian-born artist, architect, and environmentalist known for his colorful, highly imaginative works that rejected straight lines and rigid forms. He was born Friedrich Stowasser in Vienna, Austria. Later he adopted the name Hundertwasser, which means "hundred waters" in German, reflecting his love of nature and flowing forms. His paintings often feature bold colors, spirals, organic shapes, and patterns inspired by nature. He believed the straight line was "godless" and preferred curves and irregularity. He became internationally famous for his architectural projects, designing buildings that integrated trees, plants, and uneven floors. Examples include the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna and the KunstHausWien museum. Hundertwasser advocated for harmony between humans and nature. He promoted concepts like "tree tenants" (planting trees in buildings) and eco-friendly living long before it was mainstream. He spent much of his later years in New Zealand, where he continued his environmental work and designed projects like the public toilets in Kawakawa, now a landmark."
