Issued here in the 1856 Third Edition, the work presents Fairchild's own account of the controversies, ecclesiastical disputes, and personal trials that marked his ministerial career. Subtitled "Persecuted, But Not Forsaken," the volume reflects the turbulent religious climate of mid-nineteenth century New England and offers a rare, first-hand narrative of church governance, doctrinal conflict, and pastoral endurance within the Congregational tradition.
